       How did the CEFEC emerge?

In 2004 I became aware of the necessity of setting up a training organism, in the European Quarter of Brussels, in order to assist candidates during their preparation for the EU Institutions recruitment competitions (concurs).  As a former university lecturer, I have updated the 2005 version of the book “ 250 Multiple Choice Questions to understand Europe ”. The CEFEC was founded immediately after.

T     To whom is the CEFEC designated to?

Our training and consultancy is designed for professionals who have registered or who intend to register for the EU Institution competitions, therefore aiming at a European civil servants job. Generally, university graduates get through the EPSO concurs quite easy whereas professional and that have family commitments find it more difficult.  Therefore, we offer evening and Saturday classes, efficient personalised training, in order to please everyone.

O    Our achievements

Since its beginning, the CEFEC has trained over 3 500 candidates and boasts a success rate close to 35%.

The CEFEC holds regularly intensive seminars abroad, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute. Five seminars have so far been held in Sofia.

Similar initiatives in other EU member states will follow.

Numerous institutional organisms, that wish to remain confidential, have benefited from the CEFEC services for their staff taking the EU concurs.

O    Our teaching methods

All training courses are focused on exam requirements.
Lectures take place all year round. They cover verbal and numerical reasoning, EU Institutions and various political systems, community policies, written and oral test-taking techniques.
Lecturers are usually either experts or senior civil servants. The training is held in the evenings between 6-9 p.m. or on Saturdays all day long.

Participants assess their proficiency level by means of an individual voting machine. This system enables them to adapt their preparation accordingly.
To ensure the best teaching and learning conditions, the number of participants has been limited to 30. If the need arises, the CEFEC can arrange for a tutoring service or individual tuition.

Since the CEFEC was founded, its methods and data base have been regularly updated with past concurs in order to keep its high standards. Participants are given written up-to-date handouts on areas and issues that they target.

       Conclusion

Success in the European Institution concurs does not happen by sheer luck. A thorough preparation will enhance your chances and will improve the competence and skills required. Those who embark on a CEFEC training programme will enjoy extensive support and commitment from the entire team in this sense.
